The Justly Balanced Message of Islam

Posted in Uncategorized at 9:42 pm by Esam

“And Thus We Have Made You a Justly-Balanced ( Wasata) Ummah, So That You Be Witnesses Upon People, And The Prophet  Be a Witness Upon You” Baqara 143

  • The Term “Wasata” means justly-balanced and most righteous. In Arabic the term refers to the most just and most righteous of people or matters.

  • Muslims have been made into a justly-balanced nation so that they champion the cause of justice and righteousness no matter how extreme people around them might be.

  • This important distinction of Just-Balance carries with it the heavy mandate and responsibility of serving as witnesses upon mankind by striving to be the example that people will appreciate and follow in alignment with justice and righteousness.

  • The prophet peace be upon him will be the witness upon all of us since he exemplified that divine guidance in his life and lived to the fullest that justly-balanced guidance from Allah SWT.

  • Being witnesses, by being justly-balanced , requires from us a life long commitment to the fundamental  mission of “ Calling to the Way of Allah SWT”.

  • Being justly-balanced, requires from us to follow and emulate the shining example of our prophet Mohamed peace be upon him.

  • Learning his life and learning how to follow his example in calling to the way of Allah SWT is a must for us to be true to our faith and fulfilling our mission.

  • We must actively pursue the justly-balanced way, Wasatia, in our understanding our deen and in its application in our lives and the affairs of our society.

  • Achieving the balance between spirituality and activism is consistent with Wasatia.

  • Applying Islamic activism must be strongly spiritual, while also being strongly applicable to our reality with adherence to the Quran and Sunnah without losing that balance to either extreme in application.

  • We must work together as a community of believers and activists to achieve that balance in our lives and to apply our program of action based on that justly-balanced understanding in all aspects of life.

  • The Muslim American Society (MAS) and Dar Al-Hijrah are committed to teaching the program of Wasatia and provide the programs and tools to implement its activities based on that Godly understanding, following the example of our beloved prophet PBUH.
